Hibernation

Hi everyone!

Sorry that Sid and I have been absent lately. I’ve had a few other projects going on right now so I haven’t had a chance to document the day-to-day activities of my flat-faced companion. Although since it’s still pretty dang cold out in the Midwest, our adventures have been slim to none this past month.

So Sid has been in hibernation mode.

We have been getting a surprising amount of sunny days, though, which light up our apartment and create a multitude of perfect nap spots for this hibernating pug. Ah, the good life!

Chilly Willy

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all are doing well. Happy New Year from me and my dad. It’s been crazy cold here in Chicago the past two weeks so I haven’t really gone on any epic adventures or gotten into any mischief worth mentioning.

IMG_8831

Mostly just the routine of dashing outside, bundled up to the max of course, just to do my business and then hurrying back inside for my treat.

IMG_8826

Other than that, it’s been mostly naps. One of my beds is right next to the radiator and the sunbeams stream in through the large window and onto my back. The only thing that could possibly make that any better would be if someone would supply me an endless stream of baby carrots to snack upon while I lounge (hint, hint dad).

Oh, that photo of me relaxing is actually from Christmas, when I was at my grandpugrents house cuddling with the new stuffed elephant I got from Santa. I basically went bonkers unwrapping gifts (many not even intended for me) and so I needed a rest afterwards!

Stay warm everyone and be sure to bundle up if you’re heading outside!

Cake Crazy

Thank you for all the well-wishes on Sid’s 12th Birthday.

His “cake” this year was more of a sculpture of mini towers of apples and carrots (two of his favorite snacks).

IMG_8350

He kept a focused watch on me the whole time I was assembling it. Yes, sir, I’m making your cake as fast as I possibly can. Sheesh!

IMG_8354

I was pretty impressed that he sat in his bed and waited for the “ok” signal before chowing down. This is not an easy feat for a treat-crazed gremlin!

IMG_8359

Ready, set, GO!

IMG_8361

Sid ate the cake so fast I don’t think he even took a breath the whole time.

Here is one happy (and spoiled) pug! Maybe we should have cakes more often.

Totally Twelve!

Today, my favorite little creature in all the world, Siddhartha Lamont Sanchez Demski, turns 12 years old! He’s still very spry for an older gentleman. Here’s to many more years of treats, belly rubs, and ridiculous adventures together!

Fruity Fiesta

Our haul from the grocery store this week was full of fresh fruits of all varieties and of course Sid wanted a piece, or rather several pieces, of the action.

First up, one of Sid’s staples: BLUEBERRIES!

IMG_6316

He’s used to catching them in mid-air but was more than happy to plunge his face into a bowl of berries.

IMG_6321

Next up, a juicy summer treat: WATERMELON!

IMG_6304

Yep, things got messy real quick.

IMG_6311

And finally, the sweetest fruit around: MANGO!

IMG_6322

If this were a video, you might go deaf from the sound of slurping.

IMG_6326

While Sid said he loves all food equally, it seemed clear that mango was the best-tasting of this bunch. Or at least the messiest!

Sid vs. Watermelon

Sid’s 10-step guide to successfully battling a watermelon:

1. Size up your opponent.

IMG_6047

2. When striking the first blow, make it a good one.

IMG_6051

3. Keep moving and work the angles.

IMG_6054

4. Mix in some tiny attacks.

IMG_6062

5. Extend yourself for maximum reach.

IMG_6057

6. Use all the tools you have available to you.

IMG_6072

7. Yes, every tool. Even that one.

IMG_6091

8. Keep close to your opponent.

IMG_6081

9. Don’t quit until the enemy has been licked!

IMG_6086

10. Hold your head high in victory.

Have you battled any watermelons lately? Let us know if you came out the victor!

Coned

Hey all you lovely Pug Slopers!

Sid here with you today. My voice may seem louder today because it is being amplified by the enormous cone surrounding my head.

IMG_5997

Worry not, though, my friends. All is well with this pug. I am just recovering from a long vet visit on Monday. I went in for a dental cleaning and surgery to remove a small mass that was growing on my eyelid. Luckily I was knocked out for the whole thing so I didn’t feel a thing. The talented Dr. Delia and the awesome staff at Duke Animal Hospital took excellent care of me the whole day.

Although I had a few teeth extracted, got my eyebrow fur shaved off, and went without food for 24 hours prior to the surgery (yep, it was the worst), I’m loving the soft dog food I get to eat for the next two weeks! I like to make a real mess of it, too. My dad can’t stand the smell of the wet food. Let’s just call it payback. Ha ha!

While everything appears to be healing well, if you could send some positive pug juju my way I would be ever grateful! THANK YOU!
