Frosty Flakes

We’ve been keeping up with our friends and family members out on the East Coast and it looks like Jonas brought in more snow then we’ve seen here in Chicago this winter so far. I’m sure we’ll be getting more inches (or feet???) as the winter wears on but just the other day we woke up and were greeted with a nice dusting of huge fluffy flakes.

We were very lucky as I know some folks in Washington DC, Boston, and NY are dealing with much-taller-than-a-pug drifts of snow!

We hope you are all staying warm and safe out there!

(Indoor) Sunbathing 101

We are well into the throes of a frigid winter, and unless you are reading this in Florida or southern California, you are probably looking for a simple method to keep from freezing.

Well, my friends, you’re in luck because today Sid would like to show you his favorite technique for beating the cold: Sunbathing! Indoors!

IMG_9782

The first step is to bundle up in some thick warm apparel, preferably dark in color (it absorbs the heat better). You might try a cozy fleece sweater similar to the one our model is sporting.

The next step is to locate the spot in your home with maximum sun exposure. Keep in mind this spot will slowly move throughout the day, so be prepared to shift every hour or so.

Sprawl out in a comfortable position and start absorbing those wonderful warm sun beams. That’s it!

Good luck keeping warm folks!

Anyone Got a Shovel?

We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Sid got a new lion stuffie filled with squeakers and was also the recipient of an unending flow of treats and snacks all weekend long. His waist quickly vanished and soon I found myself staring at a pug sausage. So after a long weekend of relaxing and gorging, we returned home and got back to our ol’ brisk walk regimen. Guaranteed to remove those extra holiday inches and rolls.

Although, we were almost immediately cut short due to a dusting from Mother Nature.

It’s a little hard to strut your stuff when the sidewalk is frozen solid.

We did manage to at least get around the block, at which point Sid thought he might take refuge under a nice bush with a family of rabbits until Spring.

Is anyone else snowed in?

Is it Spring?

Hey everyone!

It’s Sid here with you today.

I have a quick question for you: is it Spring already?

IMG_9415

Have we already made it through the dreaded midwest winter?! I only ask because it’s been unusually warm and rainy here in Chicago for the past week.

My Dad was out on the west coast all last week so I was living it up with my fantastic pug-sitters. Let’s just say an entire bag of baby carrots was consumed by yours truly in only a week’s time. There was none of that rashioning stuff my Dad normally does. I was given baby carrots to my heart’s content!

Anyway, when my Dad returned from California I think he brought back the best souvenier ever – WARM WEATHER!

IMG_9408

It’s been pretty grey, but at least I don’t need to cuddle up in my striped afghan.

Anyone else enjoying some unseasonable warmth?!

P.S. My good pug friend in Oakland, Bea Arthur, is having trouble with one of her eyes. She’s got to have lots of drops and has to wear a cone (poor girl!). Please send her some good pug juju if you can spare!

Trading Places

Welcome to Chicago! Where one day when you go for a walk in the park it looks like this…

and the very next day you go to the same park and it looks like this…

Boy, was that one quick Autumn!

In an unrelated matter, anyone interested in doing an apartment swap for a couple weeks (or months)? You can come live here and experience the nonpareil joy that is a Chicago winter while Sid and I stay in your tropical beach house near the equator. I swear we’ll take good care of the place.

Did I Do Something Wrong?

Hey guys and gals!

So, I don’t know exactly what I did wrong this week, but I think it might have been particularly bad.

IMG_2578

Let’s see – I did not go number 1 or number 2 in the house. And I only begged my normal amount. I didn’t eat an entire Basil plant or anything else that my Dad considers off limits. And when my awesome pug-sitters came to watch me while Dad went out of town for the weekend, I didn’t lie to them and tell them I normally get three dinners.

IMG_2581

I was a MODEL PUG. So then, why am I being PUNISHED WITH MORE SNOW?!?! Is Canada mad that I said I liked Mexico’s air better and now exacting its revenge?!?!

And to think I finally just got around to ordering some new summer Aviator shades and a bathing suit. Blarg.

Slippery When Wet

Before the much-welcomed warm front came through Chicago, Sid and I got one last opportunity for some ice skating. Well, not really skating since I don’t have any skates and we are not yet living in a world where dog skates exist (although I could be wrong about that).

IMG_5673

So instead of skating on the ice, we just walked very slowly and zombie-like. There were a few near-wipeouts but miraculously we made it across the whole frozen field without any injuries.

Well, ice, it was nice knowin’ ya, but we’re ready for some Spring weather. See ya!
