ACTION PUG: The Snow Edition

For all of our readers accustomed to photos of Sid lounging around on his bed in a state of perpetually falling asleep, prepare yourselves for a change of pace.

Today, we present…

ACTION PUG: The Snow Edition

Meet your Action Pug of the day, Mr. Siddhartha “Fancy Feet” Lamont.

Enough with introductions, let’s get to the ACTION!

Um, Sid, while you are technically “in motion” you’re pretty much just STROLLING. The people came here to see ACTION and ACTION is what they shall receive!

Heck yeah, that’s more like it! Can you kick up a little snow? Flying snow = ACTION TO THE MAX!

Well, there you have it. As we have just demonstrated, “Fancy Feet” Lamont is not just a furry potato that eats, sleeps, and poops – he’s also a dynamic, daring, bold, ACTION PUG!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

See, Winter CAN Be Fun!

Finally…Some Snow!

Aside from a little dusting back in December, we haven’t had any proper snow here in Chicago. Sid’s first experience with snow was back in 2010 when Brooklyn was hit with an impressive BLIZZARD the day after Christmas. In case you missed Sid’s adventures waddling through the mountains of snow in his rubber footies, it’s been well-documented.

Last winter was a bit of dud snow-wise due to the unusually warm temps.

So it was nice today when we woke up and saw a decent layer of the fluffy white stuff coating the neighborhood.

Check out those tiny pug feet.

Sid enjoyed his walk through Winnemac Park, though the coating of snow seemed to make it more difficult for him to find the EXACT RIGHT SPOT to do his business. After some extended circling, fly-bys, and obsessive sniffing, he did eventually find the prime location.

I’m hoping we get even more snow – it’s the one thing that makes the winter tolerable!

Snow Day

Not sure how everyone else fared, but Chicago didn’t get hit too hard with snow from what was supposed to be a “huge” storm. In fact, the sun is actually out (a welcome sight after like 2 weeks of overcast days) and the snow will probably be gone by this afternoon! I made sure Sid got a chance to hang out (and eat) the snow before it vanished.

Looking forward to seeing some family this weekend and the “Holiday Magic” lights at the nearby Brookfield Zoo. Hope you all have a great weekend!

What’s This Fluffy White Stuff Called Again?

Thank you all so much for your tidal wave of positive JuJu for our pug-neighbor Natasha (a.k.a. the Dowager Countess of Pugton Abbey). We’ll be sure to pass it on to her!

This weekend we finally got some snow here in New York. Last winter was Sid’s first experience with snow, and boy did he get an introduction. The day after Christmas last year we were hit with a blizzard that basically shut down our neighborhood for a few days. It was insane – city buses were left abandoned on the streets, people were cross-country skiing to get around, and the garbage bags were left for WEEKS on the sidewalks! This year, the snow came more with a whimper. I took Ol’ Flat-Face to Prospect Park so he could get a refresher course on the cold fluffy white stuff.

As soon as we entered the park, he started the investigation.

With the snow covering up most of the ground and the low plant-life and fallen leaves, Sid struggled for a while to find the ideal spot on which to “do his business”. He usually takes a pretty decent amount of time (even more whenever we’re running late for something), but the snow definitely had him perplexed. He eventually found a good spot, but then something caught his eye.

As you all probably know, once a pug sets his/her mind to something, there is no turning back. Resistance is futile. Sid is no exception to the rule, and before I knew it, I was being towed over to where the action was happening.

We ended up in the Long Meadow, where tons of kids were out sledding. There were lots of families and even few other dogs. Sid took an immediate interest in this sledding business and proceeded to ask me if he could participate.

“C’mon, dad, can’t I go sledding? PLEEEEEEASE?!”

When I told him we couldn’t because we didn’t have a sled, he got a little huffy, so I told him that we would go sledding – but just not today. We’d first need to go the store and get a pug-sized sled. He perked up a little.

Unfortunately for poor Sid, rains came today and reduced all the snow to slush – then just muddy grey water. I guess we have time now to go to the store and get our pug sled so we are prepared for the next snow storm!

Have any of you other pugs been sledding? A certain pug with a new sledding obsession wants to know.

Um, What Season is This?

We took Sid for what we hoped would be a nice fall stroll in the park on Sunday. As last weekend’s stroll had to be cut short due to Sid’s pee malfunction (he’s doing fine now), we thought this would be the day to bask in the fall smells and colors. But as we were walking around, Sid noticed something unusual.

There were a lots of tree branches on the ground – some of them really large. Usually a stray branch on the ground is one of Sid’s favorite things because it means a new place to mark that NO ONE has touched yet. But seeing so many of them confused the little guy. Of course, he had no problem zooming in for a closer look / sniff. Not entirely sure what to make of it, he headed a little further and came upon something even more bizarre.

There was this really cold, white stuff all over the ground. Sid did not know what this stuff was. It didn’t really smell like anything, and it didn’t really taste like anything. What was heck was it?

“Oh….right. I remember this stuff from last winter. It’s snow, right?” Yep, dude. It sure is – and it’s only October. Sheesh.

P.S. Happy Halloween everyone!!! We’ll get a photo up of Sid in his costume tomorrow.

Snow-Plowing Pug

The snow that had been dumped on us from the post-Christmas blizzard was starting to look pretty nasty, so last week, when we were lucky enough to get a nice cover of fresh snow, we decided it would be a good time to take Sid out and start him on a new vocation – snow plowing.

The blizzard a week earlier was so bad that it took 4 days for our street to be plowed – we required a backup plan. This being Sid’s first winter with snow, we took the little guy to the park to gave him an opportunity to hone his skill.
