Pugs Take Chicago!

It’s a good thing Sid spent a few days resting up in preparation for Pugs Take Chicago because it was insane!

I’d reckon close to 100 pugs (and their human servants) from all over the U.S. dropped into Lake Shore East Dog Park this past Saturday.

Sid arrived in his red travel bag after a relaxing ride on the El train.

At first he tried to play it cool but once he realized how many freakin’ pugs were present, he lost any semblance of aloofness and started sniffing every pug butt he could find.

IMG_5686

He had a great time playing in the fountain and the small stream it flows into. This really is one fantastic dog park. I only wish it were closer to Pug Slope HQ!

Pugs from California to Maine were represented, including the head-tilting pair from San Francisco, Minnie and Max!

Sid also got to hang with his midwestern pal, Violet, who also calls Chicago home.

IMG_5735

There was a whole lot of running, sniffing, barking, and begging for treats going on.

By the end Sid was pretty knackered and snoozed in his travel bag the whole train ride back home! We can’t wait for the next one!

Prepping for a Pug Party

Hey fur-riends!

It’s Sid with you today. Reporting live from the nerve center of Pug Slope HQ. Yes, I know it just happens to be my bed.

IMG_5406

The reason why I’m in bed is because I’ve been taking several extra naps each day to store up energy for this weekend’s pug meetup in Chicago. Along with from my fellow flat-faced Chicago pals, Violet and Timmy, dozens of pugs from all over the country will be coming into town by air, by rail, and by dog stroller. This is the weekend the pugs will take over Chicago!

There are several activities taking place over the weekend including a pug cruise. I sailed on the cruise a couple years ago (in appropriate nautical attire, natch) and so I will be skipping it this year, but I am planning to be at the meet and greet at Lake Shore East Dog Park. I was there last summer for a pug party and it was absolute mayhem.

Let me know if you are planning to go!

Pug Productivity

Hello furrriends!

It’s Sid here with you today! My Dad has been in work and project mode a lot lately which unfortunately means less pug adventure time.

Anyway, I’m not gonna be blue about it and decided instead to start using this extra “me” time to become a more productive pug.

IMG_4188

I’ve been reading productivity books, organizing all my files, watching countless youtube videos on life hacks, and pretty much freeing up as much time possible in order to pursue my main life goal: OBTAIN ALL OF THE TREATS.

Based on what I’ve gathered thus far, the key is to eliminate all those unnecessary things in life — you know, like visits to the vet, daily walks, obeying commands from your human — in order to get what you want out of life. I feel like a brand new pug!

I’d tell you more about it but I just got an alert from my calendar that it’s time for another treat…see ya!

Making the Bed

I got a chance to wash several of Sid’s beds this weekend (yeah, he’s got a BUNCH of ’em). His more oft-used beds had been looking pretty flat and were omitting that charming odour d’pug, so it was a much overdue task. His “fancy” bed (which he got for his tenth Birthday) washed up really nicely though it did require some disassembly prior to washing. After a thorough hot-water cycle down at the Pug Slope laundromat, the bed was restored to its super fluffy, clean-smelling state.

I reassembled all the bolsters, zipped-up all the zippers, and plunked it down in front of Sid. After a five-minute sniff test, he proceeded to spend the next twenty minutes digging, face-mashing, and sneezing on the bed to make it his very own.

I think he got it just right.

Charting the Course

In less than a week, Sid and I will be setting forth on a week-long epic camping trip all the way around Lake Michigan. I’ve been busy gathering up all the camping supplies and paraphernalia we’ll need so I’ve left all the route-planning in Sid’s capable paws.

IMG_2364

Although, I took a quick peak at the route thus far, and there seem to be way more stops at pet supply stores than state parks.

Hmmmm, might need to just keep him in charge of something he’s more qualified to do: meal planning.

Rascally Rabbit!

Greetings and salutations to all you wonderful Pug Slopers out there!

This is Sid here with you today and I wanted to tell you all about a new member of my gang.

IMG_2181

As soon as I set my bulging pug eyes on his magnificent long ears and puffy white tail, I couldn’t resist inviting him to play. Get over here, Rabbit!

IMG_2177

We had a wondeful time playing chase and tag and basically all the games that rabbits like.

We ended the day with a relaxing cuddle and talked about our mutual love of baby carrots.

Double Trouble

I’m not sure how exactly, but this happened today:

IMG_1953

No, you aren’t seeing double, there really are TWO KONGS pictured. And both are there solely for the snacking pleasure of just one Siddhartha Lamont.

IMG_1956

Sid just kept repeating “The numbers check out” and “I did the math” while frantically slurping out peanut butter from Kong #1 as his eyes maintained steady watch of Kong #2.
