Who Stole My Snuggie?

This recent spell of cold weather in Pug Slope has kept us from taking any new exciting photos of everyone’s favorite little turkey. Gone are the long afternoons of meandering through Prospect Park. On Sid’s walks he now stays strictly to the “business” at hand (can I get a rimshot?). He’s very content to curl up indoors and since his Snuggie apparently wasn’t cutting it, he decided to commandeer Jenn’s.

Yes, he did take over the whole darn thing.

He’s also taken to popping up into our bed in the middle of the night – although we can’t complain. Since the radiators in the apartment churn out too much heat (and the one in the bedroom is about 6 inches from my head) we often turn off the one in the bedroom at night. So when it does get a little chilly, what folks commonly refer to as a “One Dog Night”, Sid fits the role perfectly.

Your Daily Siddhartha (Days 1 and 2)

In April of 2010, while we were still living in Glendale, CA, Jenn and I took an amazing two-week trip to Europe.

This was the first time we had been away from Sid for this long, so we enlisted our good friend Adam to watch over and supervise the little bugger.

Adam is a good sport, and despite dealing with the exhaustive list of Sid’s daily duties (e.g., 7am breakfast, confidence shirts, twice-a-day walks, letting the little gremlin sleep in the bed, etc.) he also managed to film a short video each day we were away. All the places we stayed in Europe had internet access so we were able to keep up with the enigma that is Sid. Yes, I know, we’re obsessed about the little dude.

Adam clearly has a knack for this sort of thing, and these videos far outshine any video Jenn and I have made to date, so we wanted to share them with you. Here are the first two days (more to come this month):

Sid’s Best Day Ever

After Sid’s Christmas 2010 “Blizzard of Toys” (parts 1 and 2), you’d think we would take a break from spoiling the little dude and let our bank account recover. We’ll, you’d be wrong.

Whenever we order stuff from Amazon, we always wind up tacking a dog toy or seven onto the order. So when Jenn ordered her 2011 desk calendar on December 22nd, we added on a few items for the Sid-man. Whether it was the blizzard, the free super-saver shipping, or the general holiday craziness, we’ll never know, but our package wound up getting severely delayed.

It finally showed up today.

Remember the baby frog that Sid got from Grandma Demski back in October? Well, he had practically worn the thing out from chewing and licking and other forms of man-handling, so he was practically floored when a brand spanking new one showed up today in the package from Amazon.

After a swipe with his deft hand, Sid knocked Frog 2.0™ to the floor and began the process of attacking it via a method referred to as “death by saliva”.

Sid’s New Year’s Resolutions?

I found a list tucked away in Sid’s bed.  It was hard to read the paw-writing, but from what I could decipher, it read:

“Resolutions for 2011:

1. Eat more food.

2. Eat more treats.

3. Figure out how to climb to the top of the fridge where the food and treats are stored so I can eat more food and eat more treats.

4. Figure out where they hid the Tupperware.”

Christmas Toy Round-up Part II

After Sid had plucked all the chickens from the coop, he was ready to move on to more dangerous critters: S-S-S-S-SNAKES!

Aunt Erin and Uncle Will got Sid a Snake in the Grass toy by Kyjen for Christmas. The puzzle-type toys really get Sid fired up and this one provided an added twist – elastic. There are four snakes inside the “grass” – 1 baby snake that is removable and 3 larger snakes that stay attached to the grass via elastic bands. So now when Sid extracts a snake, it flings around on the elastic as he hunts for the rest.

The baby snake is his favorite.

Since words can only do so much, here is another “Sid Vid” that demonstates Sid’s snake hunting destroying skills.

By the way, the music featured is Brooklyn’s own Baby Soda who I caught the other night at Bar Bès. They play really great old-time toe-tappin’ jazz.
