VeggOut!

Hiya Pug Slopers!

Sid here with you today to close out the week. Thank you so much for all the Birthday wishes! I hope every one of you was able to celebrate with me and have a baby carrot.

And SPEAKING OF BABY CARROTS, I’ve got a story for you.

So just the other day I got up to get a drink a water and when I came back to my bed, there was a package sitting there with my name on it!

It came all the way from the home of Donald and Daisy! I couldn’t contain my excitement so I started ripping open the package.

IMG_8637

I could not believe what was inside. It sounded like this toy was designed specifically for me!

IMG_8641

I asked my personal chef (a.k.a. Dad) to fill it up ASAP with some b.c.’s and seal it off with some peanut butter!

You can probably guess what happened next…

Thank you so much Donald and Daisy, and their parents, Tim and Christy! What a thoughtful Birthday present. I love it!

I Scream For…

Sid and I hope everyone had a fun Fourth of July. It was so nice having a three-day weekend. Not only did we have amazing weather but we were graced with the presence of a whole car-load of special guests!

When the packed car pulled up at Pug Slope HQ, Christy and Tim (pug-rents of Angel Payton the Pug) and their pugs, Donald and Daisy, hopped out followed by two other humans. Humans whom Sid and I had never met in person before: Christy’s parents – a.k.a. Payton’s “Gammy” and “Gampy”! Sid’s mind was blown.

The beach was packed for the holiday so we opted to hang out at Winnemac Park. We spread out the blanket, kicked back, and let the pugs do some serious sniffing. Daisy was happy we didn’t end up going to the beach as she is not very crazy about sand and surf. The recently-mowed grass of the park was much more her speed.

I was armed with venison jerky treats and as soon as Sid noticed this fact, he got into super-model mode and did whatever pose would ensure promptest treat delivery.

IMG_3657

Donald caught wind of what was going on and joined in on the action. If you ever wish to have a pug in your presence, and you don’t see any around, just hold some venison jerky in your hands. Within seconds you will have at least half a dozen sitting in front of you staring unblinkingly.

We all hopped in the car and rolled over to Crosby’s Kitchen for lunch. All pugs were on exceptional behavior! I guess they might have had some premonition of joy in their near future and didn’t want to do anything stupid that would spoil what was in store for them after lunch.

After a delicious meal, we all made tracks for Scooter’s Frozen Custard which was one of three places on Gampy’s Chicago checklist. The other two were also ice cream joints. The man has his priorities in order, that’s for sure.

Not only did the humans get to indulge in delicious frozen custard concoctions, but each of the dogs were given their own complementary mini cones filled with vanilla frozen custard! The teeny cones were adorable but I didn’t get a photo of them. You know why? Well, I was busy dealing with another situation. I’ll let the photos tell the story…

If there would have been a third photo, it would have captured Sid’s muppet arms swiping my ice cream right off the bench and onto the ground. Remember when I said the pugs were behaving exceptionally well during lunch? Well, a CERTAIN PUG WHOSE NAME STARTS WITH AN “S” couldn’t contain himself in the presence of the sweet sweet ice cream and knocked his poor dad’s cup onto the ground.

Thank goodness Scooter’s was very understanding of my predicament and gave me a replacement cup for free. I’m pretty certain Sid felt no remorse for his actions and probably would have knocked my second cup of ice cream on the ground if there was a 0.001% chance that it might end up in his mouth.

Before we parted ways, Sid said he wanted to be sure he got a photo with Gammy because she’s one of his biggest fans.

Thank you to Christy, Tim, Donald, Daisy, Gammy, and Gampy for visiting us and for making this one of Sid’s best days ever!

Beach Boys (and a Girl)

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a nice relaxing Labor Day weekend. I was glued to a pillow about 85% of the time but the other 15% was filled with an ADVENTURE! Not only did it involve the dog beach, but it also involved some very special guests.

Guess who?!

Why it was none other than the petite pair, Donald and Daisy (from Pug-a-Boo) along with their ‘rents, Christy and Tim.

When we arrived at Foster Beach the sun was shining brightly, the temperature was pleasantly warm but not pug-melting, and there was a nice breeze coming in off the water. Donald and I immediately took off through the sand and barked “hello” to the other dogs also out enjoying the fine day.

The two dudes cruising for adventure.

It is an understatement to say that Daisy wasn’t a huge fan of the sand, and although she did hobble around a bit, her tail expressed her true feelings on the subject.

The lovely, though a bit perturbed, Daisy and me.

We tried to get some group photos but all three of us pugs did not feel like sitting still. There were far to many new smells to sniff, dogs to chase, and humans that potentially had treats.

Tim was able to wrangle Donald and Daisy for a nice photo, but I was off romping through the waves at this point. I guess it truly is a challenge to keep three pugs in one place at the same time!

I’ll have to tell you all about the insane waves and our outdoor lunch later this week! To be continued…

The Puggish Invasion (Part 2)

And the tri-pug adventures continued…

Donald, Daisy, and Sid did a little gift exchange with eachother. Sid received some cool and extremely thoughtful presents – including a STUFFED BABY CARROT!

I know you’re plush, but I still plan to eat you one day.

He also got a some sweet potato treats and a super soft and warm fleece sweater that used to belong to Payton. It’ll surely keep him warm during this winter that seems like it may have a few more months to go. Thank you, Donald, Daisy, Christy, and Tim!

Sid gave Donald and Daisy each a Wigzi because he felt they were not getting enough peanut butter in their daily lives. He said that peanut butter and baby carrots are an essential component of the pug food triangle.

For some reason, the pugs got a kick out of playing on the deflated air-bed. I think it may have been the fact that Tim was sitting on it and he possesses some sort of gravitational pull that the pugs cannot resist.

Unfortunately the party couldn’t last forever. Donald and Daisy got bundled up and their ‘rents packed up all the pug accoutrements.

Sid didn’t want our special guests to leave, so he forged what he thought was a fool-proof plan…

C’mon! How did you guys find me in here?!

We had a great time with D & D and their ‘rents this past weekend. Looking forward to their next visit to the Windy City!

Sid & Christy

The Puggish Invasion (Part 1)

As prophesied by our fantastic (and possibly psychic) readers, Donald and Daisy from Pug-a-Boo (and their ‘rents, Tim and Christy) were the special guests that spent the weekend kickin’ it at Chateaux Pugslope.

Despite the predictions of a brutal snow storm, the weather stayed on our side somehow, so we couldn’t resist taking the pups to the park for a photo shoot to capture this special occasion.

Ladies first… here’s the delightful DAISY!

And here’s her partner in crime, the dapper Donald.

Let me tell you, it was tricky getting all three pugs in one photo. Even more difficult was getting them to all look in the same direction at the same time. While Sid and Donald were captivated by the baby carrots that Tim was seductively waving off-camera, Daisy wasn’t very interested. It’s been rumored that she doesn’t get out of bed unless filet mignon or higher is on the menu, so the BC’s weren’t really up to scratch. Luckily we also had some tasty venison jerky on hand, which captivated the entire gang.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, lose sight of that venison jerky!

(A squirrel breaks Donald’s concentration)

HOLD UP! Um, are you telling me I just missed the venison jerky delivery?! WTP?!

After the photo shoot and a liesurely stroll through the park, the pugs crashed, allowing us humans to hang out for a bit and partake in some treats of our own.

Tune in tomorrow for Part 2!

How Did You Know?!

Congratulations to all the readers that guessed who the special guests staying at Pug Slope HQ this past weekend were…

It was none other than DONALD and DAISY from Pug-a-Boo, along with their ‘rents Tim and Christy (who also happen to be the ‘rents of Angel Payton). That’s Daisy on the left, Sid in the middle, and Donald on the right.

As soon as the comments starting coming in on Friday’s post, I was astonished by how many people guessed the special guests correctly. I thought I had withheld the details and kept things vague enough but either you guys used some mystical psychic pug juju or Sid hacked my email account again and published all the details on wikileaks.

The photo above doesn’t quite convey the extreme size difference of Sid compared to either Donald or Daisy. D & D are practically “pockets pugs” compared to Sid.

More details of the pug party to come later this week! Stay tuned!
